- 2014 Dodge Challenger
Well built affordable cars simple resale better. The top awards go to vehicles with a reputation for strong car health, evidenced by imported cars dominating the best resale value awards list. Older models of these same cars resale very well, too. Specialized and collectible cars have their own high end resale market as well. Here are a few of the specific 2014 car models that, according to Kelley Blue Book, stand out for top resale value:
For Best Resale Value Subcompact car award, the Nissan Versa takes top prize:
One of the lowest-priced car in the country, the Versa also offers the best resale value in the subcompact car category. The 2014 Nissan Versa starts at $12,780 (with destination) in sedan form, while the Versa Note – the all-new hatchback version – kicks off at $14,780.
Best 2014 Best Resale Value Awards Compact Car: Subaru Impreza
I have to include a Subaru winner on this list, as it is the “unofficial” car of Colorado. According to MSN autos, the Ford F-150 is the most popular car in Colorado. I think they bypassed Boulder when they did their car count. Actually, they have the Subaru Outback as a runner up in the most popular car for Colorado list. With a starting price below $20,000, the 2014 Subaru Impreza offers the same features and fuel economy as its competitors, but with the added advantage of standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD). For mountain drivers, the subaru is a top choice.
2014 Best Resale Value Awards Sports Car:Chevrolet Camaro V6
I was kind of surprised that the Camaro took top prize for resale value among muscle cars. Just based on what I see at car shows, I expected top resale value to be a Corvette or Ford Mustang. In my area, both of these cars are featured in rally’s and car shows every summer. For those investing in muscle cars, this might be the time to add a 2014 Camaro V6 to your automotive portfolio. At $24,500 starting MSRP and low depreciation, the Chevy Camaro offers a considerable amount of bang for the buck.
2014 Best Resale Value Awards Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car: Lexus ES 300 Hybrid
Hybrids are hot, and just getting hotter. The Lexus ES Hybrid 2014 base model’s price starts at $39,350. What’s not to enjoy about a lexus, and a hybrid at that.
2014 Best Resale Value Awards Compact SUV/Crossover: Jeep Wrangler
Just like the Subaru, Jeep is a very popular car for Colorado drivers. MSN auto named it, along with The Subaru Outback, as runners up to the most popular car in Colorado, the Ford F-10. And, in actuality, I have owned a Subaru, a Ford F-150, and a Jeep. I strongly suspect many other residents can claim the very same thing. Jeep kind of falls into a specialty car category, as it boasts it’s own unique features that differentiate it from other all terrain vehicles. There’s nothing like a jeep for slogging through mud and snow, and going off-road. Priced at just over $23,000 for a basic model to around $40,000 for a loaded Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon X, Jeep’s fits a variety of budgets.
2014 Best Resale Value Awards: Full-Size SUV/Crossover: Toyota Sequoia
TheToyota Sequoia is the largest SUV in the Toyota’s offerings. It’s ability to carry up to eight passengers has made it very attractive among those looking for a lot of seating or cargo room.
Unlike car-based crossover SUVs, the 2014 Sequoia boasts a sturdy truck chassis and available 4-wheel-drive system. All Sequoia models feature a 5.7-liter V8 that makes 381 horsepower and a robust 401 lb-ft of torque. Starting under $45,000, the Sequoia is a go to choice for large, powerful vehicles.

Many older car models also boast strong resale value. For selling your car, imported cars, or a solid SUV will command the best resale price. Before running an ad in Craigslist, it’s a good marketing move to take it to your auto technician and have an analysis of overall car health done to present to potential buyers.
